Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed grave concern about Nigeria’s descent into dictatorship. His remarks came in response to threats made against former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Adeyanju condemned the threats to Obi’s life, calling for no harm or persecution to come his way. He stated, “I condemn the threat to HE Peter Obi’s life for being a vocal voice of opposition in Nigeria. No harm or persecution must come to him.”

He further emphasized that criticizing and holding the government accountable should not be a crime but should be celebrated as an act of patriotism.

Adeyanju added, “Nigeria is sinking into a full-blown dictatorship and a one-party state before our very eyes. All the concerns of HE Peter Obi are timely and spot on.
