In a decisive show of force, Nigerian Army troops have launched a series of successful operations against terrorist hideouts across multiple states, delivering a crippling blow to insurgents and criminal networks. The latest offensives, which took place in Borno, Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, Kwara, and Delta states, have led to the elimination of key terrorist leaders, the rescue of hostages, and the recovery of dangerous weapons.
In Borno State, troops carried out coordinated attacks on terrorist strongholds in Bama, Gwoza, Chibok, and other volatile areas, successfully neutralizing several insurgents. Among those killed was Abba Alai, also known as Amirul Khahid of Alafa, a notorious commander who had been on security watchlists for years. This high-value target was responsible for orchestrating deadly attacks and maintaining terror networks in the region. As part of the operation, troops dismantled explosives planted along their routes and freed an elderly woman who had been held captive by the terrorists for a decade. The army also seized a large cache of weapons, further weakening the insurgents’ ability to regroup.
In Katsina State, security forces repelled a major terrorist attack, overpowering the assailants with superior firepower. The operation forced the terrorists to retreat into the forest, abandoning their weapons. In a major breakthrough, a high-ranking terrorist commander in Jibia Local Government Area surrendered to the authorities, handing over two AK-47 rifles and releasing ten captives, including seven women and three children.
Zamfara State also witnessed heavy clashes as Nigerian troops engaged another group of terrorists in a fierce battle. One terrorist was killed while the rest fled, leaving behind motorcycles and critical supplies. Meanwhile, in Niger State, security forces launched clearance operations in Dakwala and Chikuba, flushing out terrorists and demolishing their hideouts. During the operation, troops recovered 36 abandoned motorcycles, a vital asset used by criminal groups to execute attacks and escape swiftly.
Elsewhere, in Kwara State, troops raided a known kidnappers’ den in Karunji village. Upon sighting the advancing security forces, the criminals fled in panic, abandoning their captives. This swift intervention has brought relief to affected families and reinforced the government’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the country.
A major breakthrough was also recorded in Delta State, where security operatives arrested a high-profile commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network. The suspect, identified as Ekene Ifeanyi, was captured at his hideout in Issele Asagba Forest within Oshimili South Local Government Area. Intelligence reports indicate that he played a key role in establishing terrorist cells in the region and had been actively involved in violent activities threatening national security.
Following these successful operations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commended the troops for their unwavering dedication and bravery. He reassured them of continued government support, emphasizing that their welfare remains a top priority. With these ongoing offensives, Nigeria’s security forces are sending a strong message to terrorist groups and criminal elements that their reign of terror will not be tolerated.
