Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, announced major reforms in Nigeria’s justice system. Speaking in Abuja, he highlighted efforts to improve transparency, inclusivity, and accountability. He also called for feedback to guide future changes.
Fagbemi said the Ministry has achieved significant milestones. The 2024 National Policy on Justice tackles challenges in delivering effective justice. The National Policy on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, 2024, offers quicker ways to settle disputes.
He praised the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, for speeding up criminal case resolutions. Fagbemi stressed the importance of timely and accessible justice for all Nigerians.
Collaboration with departments and stakeholders has driven these reforms. Fagbemi promised more improvements, using transparency and public engagement to build trust in the system.
