The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) is working on a close collaboration with the Lagos State Government to boost the e-commerce sector in the state. This partnership aims to enhance last-mile delivery and improve connectivity, ensuring seamless logistics for e-commerce activities in Lagos and nationwide.
During a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, NIPOST’s Postmaster-General, Ms. Tola Odeyemi, emphasized the importance of Lagos as a key partner in this vision. “Lagos is the economic hub of Nigeria, and through this partnership, we aim to support small businesses and individuals in the rapidly growing e-commerce space,” she said.
Odeyemi highlighted that fostering strategic partnerships is one of her key goals as Postmaster-General, aimed at optimizing NIPOST’s services and enhancing its relevance in an evolving world. She praised the Lagos State Government for initiatives like ‘Detty December,’ which drew large numbers of people from the diaspora to Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu challenged NIPOST to embrace innovation and technology to drive ease of doing business in the state and beyond. “Challenge the status quo. Use technology to enhance service delivery and revamp NIPOST for future needs,” the Governor advised.
NIPOST has recently experienced a significant revenue boost, growing by 275% in 2024, driven by improved service quality and increased patronage. To sustain this growth, NIPOST has begun upgrading key locations in Abuja, Lagos, and Kaduna, focusing on innovation and modernization.
