NPFL: Draw Against Plateau United a Temporary Setback – Tornadoes Coach Mohammed

Niger Tornadoes head coach, Majin Mohammed, has described his team’s 1-1 draw against Plateau United as a temporary setback, assuring fans that they will recover in their upcoming matches. The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture, played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, saw the home side initially take the lead before conceding a late equalizer.

The game started with both teams displaying strong defensive organization, making it difficult for either side to break the deadlock in the first half. Niger Tornadoes found their breakthrough in the 59th minute when forward Papa Daniel capitalized on a defensive lapse to put his team ahead. However, they failed to build on their lead, allowing Plateau United to stay in the contest.

As the match neared its conclusion, Plateau United intensified their attacks in search of an equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 88th minute when Samuel Kalu found the back of the net, denying Tornadoes a much-needed victory.

Speaking after the game, Coach Mohammed acknowledged his team’s inability to maintain their advantage, pointing to a lack of concentration in the closing minutes. He stressed that such lapses must be avoided if they are to achieve their season’s objectives.

Despite the disappointment of dropping two points at home, Mohammed remained upbeat, stating that the team is still in a strong position to compete in the league. He assured supporters that lessons had been learned and that the squad would bounce back stronger in their next matches.

Niger Tornadoes will now shift focus to their next NPFL fixture, where they aim to return to winning ways. The coach has urged his players to stay focused and improve their ability to manage games, especially in crucial moments.
