Plateau United’s assistant coach, Hamza Abdulazeez Mangut, has provided insights into the team’s 1-1 draw with Niger Tornadoes in their recent Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter. The match, held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, saw the hosts take the lead in the 59th minute through Pius Daniel, with Samuel Kalu equalizing for Plateau United in the 88th minute.
Mangut attributed the stalemate to missed opportunities and lapses in concentration during critical moments of the game. He emphasized that while the team created several scoring chances, their inability to convert them into goals proved costly. Mangut also highlighted the need for improved focus, especially in defense, to prevent conceding goals from set-pieces and counter-attacks.
Despite the draw, Mangut expressed confidence in the team’s potential and reiterated the coaching staff’s commitment to addressing these issues in training sessions. He called on the players to remain disciplined and to capitalize on their scoring opportunities in future matches.
This result places Plateau United in 15th position on the NPFL table, with 25 points from 23 matches. The team will be looking to improve their standing as the season progresses, focusing on converting draws into wins to climb up the league table.
