Funsho Jimoh, also known as Danjuma, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Iyanu Adedeji, over an infidelity dispute in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been revealed to be a suspect in the murder of Mary Ogunyemi, a victim of serial killer Philip Ogunnaike.
A police source confirmed that Funsho had been on the run for various crimes, including cultism, murder, and other offenses. The deadly confrontation occurred after Funsho allegedly accused Iyanu of infidelity, leading to a violent argument where Iyanu fatally stabbed him in the chest.
During the investigation, it emerged that Funsho had been implicated by Ogunnaike in the murder of Mary Ogunyemi and had assisted him in the crime. Ogunnaike, arrested in October 2024, also claimed that Funsho had initiated him into cultism. Funsho was also believed to be involved in the murders of two other women.
Iyanu confessed to knowing about her husband’s cult connections and domestic abuse. She described a violent confrontation shortly before his death, where Funsho accused her of cheating, then attacked her with a knife. In the scuffle, the knife wound inflicted on Funsho eventually led to his death.
Despite Funsho’s criminal background, authorities maintain that Iyanu had no legal justification for killing him, and she will be arraigned for the crime.
