A trader, Monsurat Bello, has been hospitalized following an assault by her neighbor, Gbenga Soboyejo, in the Atoyo area of Sagamu, Ogun State. According to Bello, the attack occurred after she sat on Soboyejo’s premises to avoid the harsh sunlight while running her business.
Bello explained that she often faced discomfort from the sun at her shop, prompting her to move her chair to Soboyejo’s property. When Soboyejo demanded she sweep his premises, Bello refused, claiming it wasn’t her responsibility. This led to a violent altercation, with Soboyejo allegedly delivering multiple punches to her face, stomach, and other parts of her body.
The victim has since been hospitalized, undergoing several medical tests, and incurring significant expenses due to the attack. Despite police intervention, Soboyejo fled with his family, evading arrest. Bello is now calling on authorities to ensure justice is served.
Efforts to reach Soboyejo’s wife for comment were unsuccessful, and the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, did not respond to inquiries. A senior police officer confirmed that the suspect remains on the run.
