The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed one death and three injuries in a multiple accident near Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, disclosed the details in a statement on Tuesday. He revealed that the accident occurred during the recovery of a fallen 40-foot container.
“During an overnight operation to recover a fallen 40-foot container for onward transmission to the LASTMA office in Oshodi, a multiple truck accident occurred nearby on Otedola Bridge,” he stated.
Four articulated trucks collided due to reckless driving, causing severe damage. The impact left the trucks stuck together.
“An adult male was extricated from beneath one of the trucks but unfortunately lost his life,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
Three other men sustained injuries. Two victims, in critical condition, received on-site medical attention before being transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre.
LASEMA implemented safety measures to prevent further incidents at the scene.
The agency urged drivers to exercise caution to avoid similar accidents.
