Oba Jelili Olaiya, the Ajeniju of Halleluyah Community in Osun State, has shared his harrowing experience after hoodlums attacked his palace last Friday, injuring four individuals, including himself.
In an exclusive interview, Olaiya, who remains hospitalized, explained that the attack stemmed from accusations that he installed an Imam without approval from the Chief Imam of Ido Osun. The attack occurred despite the presence of 18 police officers and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel at the palace.
Olaiya denied the allegations, clarifying that the installation of the Imam took place in front of his palace, not on Ido-Osun land, and there was no new mosque built. His wife, one of his chiefs, and a senior cleric were also injured in the attack.
The monarch has called for increased security to prevent further violence and urged calm while the government addresses the underlying issues.
