In a successful operation, the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with military and vigilante forces, arrested two suspected armed robbers and cattle rustlers. The criminals were apprehended after they attacked a farm in Akwanga, injuring a security guard and stealing 34 cows.
The incident occurred on Friday when the police received a tip-off about the attack. Acting swiftly, officers, alongside military personnel and vigilantes, responded to the scene. The security guard, who had been assaulted with a machete, was rescued and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The manhunt for the suspects culminated in a confrontation at Akun Forest, located in the Nasarawa Eggon area. A gun battle ensued, leading to the capture of two suspects, who were fatally injured during the exchange. The stolen cows were recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the joint effort of the security forces that led to the successful recovery of the stolen livestock. He also praised the vigilante group for their invaluable support and urged them to continue working with law enforcement to maintain security in the region.
