Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt but Lose Two Officers in Plateau

Two police officers have lost their lives during a gun battle with suspected kidnappers in Plateau State, while four suspects have been arrested.

The Plateau State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the clash occurred along Little Rayfield Road in Jos, where the kidnappers attempted to abduct their victims.

“The deceased police officers, identified as Fatoyo Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit, were part of a special team deployed from Abuja to assist in combating kidnapping in the state,” Alfred said.

He explained that the officers were killed during a fierce exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers.

The police urged residents to remain calm, assuring that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

“The case is under investigation, and further developments will be communicated in due course,” the statement added.

The Plateau State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and tackling criminal activities in the region.
