The Katsina State Police Command has successfully thwarted a bandit attack along the Yantumaki–Tashan Icce road in Danmusa Local Government Area, rescuing victims and forcing the assailants to retreat.
The attack occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Monday when a group of heavily armed bandits ambushed vehicles near Dorowa village, opening fire on unsuspecting travelers. Security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed that during the assault, the gunmen targeted a red Ford vehicle and a Volkswagen Golf, injuring two passengers and abducting an undisclosed number of commuters.
Reacting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer in Danmusa mobilized operatives of Operation Sharan Daji to the scene. The security team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the bush.
The injured victims were immediately taken to Yantumaki Hospital for medical treatment, while security forces have intensified search operations to ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
The latest attack underscores the persistent threat of banditry in the region, but security agencies continue to ramp up efforts to tackle the menace and restore safety to the roads.
