The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has not yet formally petitioned the police, nearly two weeks after claiming to have received 200 death threats.
Morka made the allegations on January 8 during a media exchange with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi. He claimed that he had received 400 threats, including 200 explicit death threats from individuals believed to be Obi’s supporters. Morka vowed to submit the threats to law enforcement agencies, detailing that the messages included threats to shoot and behead him, as well as harm his family members.
However, an inquiry with the police revealed that Morka had not submitted any formal petition or evidence of the death threats. Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi expressed unawareness of the claims, stating that the police had not received any such reports from Morka.
Morka, despite his public statements, did not respond to calls, SMS, or WhatsApp messages for clarification on the matter. Meanwhile, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Director General of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, downplayed the significance of the allegations, saying that Obi’s camp would not be concerned with Morka’s claims and emphasized that it was Morka, not Obi, who should address legal questions.
