Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has presented the state’s 2025 budget proposal of N1.1 trillion to a faction of the state House of Assembly. The budget was submitted on Monday to the four-member Assembly faction led by Victor Oko-Jombo.

This presentation marks Fubara’s second budget since assuming office. His first budget, the 2024 appropriation bill of N800 billion, was also presented to a faction of the Assembly led by Edison Ehie.

The budget presentation comes amid ongoing political tensions in the state, with the sudden demolition of parts of the State House of Assembly complex following the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmakers’ defection was triggered by the strained relationship between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

After Ehie’s resignation from the Assembly, he was appointed as Fubara’s Chief of Staff. This latest budget presentation signals the continued division and tension within the state’s political landscape.
