Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Nasarawa State to oversee the distribution of relief materials to residents affected by recent flooding. The Vice President distributed food, mattresses, and household items to approximately 1,845 people in five local government areas: Awe, Doma, Nasarawa, Toto, and Lafia.
In addition, Shettima presented tractors and paddy rice from the Nasarawa Rice Farm project to 13 local government areas, reinforcing the government’s focus on agricultural development and disaster relief. He emphasized that these efforts were not only for immediate relief but also aimed at empowering local farmers to rebuild their livelihoods.
“The government is committed to agricultural resilience and ensuring food security for affected communities,” Shettima stated.
Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed gratitude for the federal support, which included a N3 billion ecological fund for rebuilding infrastructure. Shettima also attended the graduation of 1,128 students at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational Training Centre, underscoring the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment.
Further, the Vice President laid the foundation for a World Bank-funded project to enhance business opportunities and economic growth in the state.
