Nigerian officials have, however, expressed optimism that this restriction is a temporary measure. A spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alkasim Abdulkadir, suggested that the move could be related to the upcoming Ramadan season, as Saudi Arabia seeks to manage the influx of visitors during this period.
While acknowledging that visa issuance is a sovereign decision of the Saudi government, the Nigerian authorities have assured citizens that diplomatic engagements are ongoing to resolve the issue.
