The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has extended its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts by distributing learning and relief materials to schools and orphanages in Zaria, Kaduna State. This initiative underscores the council’s dedication to supporting education and improving the lives of underprivileged children.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Mrs. Karimatu Othman, the North West Director of NSC, highlighted the importance of the initiative.
“This initiative is a demonstration of our commitment to giving back to the community and supporting the education of children who need it the most,” she said.
The council’s donations included educational materials such as textbooks and notebooks for Kufena College and LEA Primary School Unguwar Magajiya. Beth Torrey Home/School, an orphanage in the Tukur-Tukur area, received essential items like blankets, a washing machine, towels, a deep freezer, and double-burner cookers.
Mrs. Othman emphasized that the NSC has consistently engaged in various interventions over the past decade, impacting communities in health, education, and humanitarian sectors.
“This effort reflects the importance of corporate social responsibility and the significant role organizations can play in making a positive impact on their communities,” she added.
At Beth Torrey Home/School, the orphanage manager, Abubakar Saidu, expressed gratitude for the council’s support.
“The items donated to us are essential and will significantly address many of the challenges we face daily,” Saidu said, noting that the orphanage caters to mentally and physically challenged children.
He praised the NSC for its thoughtfulness and generosity, urging other organizations to follow its example.
“Kudos to the Nigerian Shippers’ Council for this commendable effort. I hope this initiative inspires others to make a difference in the lives of those around them,” he added.
