A fatal road accident on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 22-year-old passenger, Mariam Taiwo, and left two others injured along the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State. The incident occurred near Network Hotel in Sotubo at approximately 3:40 pm.
The crash involved a lone vehicle, an ash-colored Lexus 350 Jeep with registration number KRD 858 JR, driven by 28-year-old Ade Awodero Idris. According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Omolola Odutola, the driver lost control of the steering, causing the vehicle to veer off the main road and overturn into nearby bushes.
Police reports revealed that Mariam Taiwo was rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOSUTH) in Sagamu, where she was pronounced dead. The two other passengers, 26-year-old Sikiru Musibau and 22-year-old Damilola Olajuwon, suffered severe head injuries and were quickly taken to Awal Hospital in Sotubo for emergency medical care.
“The incident took place near the Network Hotel in Sotubo, Ogun State, involving a Lexus 350 Jeep driven by Ade Awodero Idris, who was traveling with three passengers. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to flip off the road,” Odutola told DAILY POST.
She added that the deceased’s body has been preserved for further examination and autopsy, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident.
