Unilever Nigeria Champions Transporter Safety with Two-Days Safety Week

Unilever Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to road safety and operational excellence by hosting a two-daysTransporters Safety Week under the theme: Pressure Dey, No Panic Safety First. The event, held at the company’s Agbara facility, brought together logistics and supply chain stakeholders to celebrate exceptional performance and promote a robust safety culture.

The program featured comprehensive training sessions on defensive driving, cargo security, and accident prevention, conducted by experts from the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Security and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Drivers also benefited from free medical screenings and consultations, ensuring their well-being as they navigate Nigeria’s challenging roadways.

In a bid to create an engaging and educational atmosphere, participants were involved in interactive games designed to reinforce Unilever’s safety protocols. The event underscored the company’s dedication to fostering safety and accountability across its transporter network.

Logistics Manager, Ayokunle Ajijola, highlighted a significant milestone during the event, noting, This year, we are proud to announce that there were no road fatalities across our transporter network. This milestone underscores the impact of our collaborative efforts with transporters in fostering a culture of safety and accountability.

A key highlight of the week was the presentation of awards recognizing outstanding performance in 2024. The prestigious Best Performing Driver award (Pan Nigeria) went to Sulaimon Mohammed of Oristetimeyin Logistics Limited. Mohammed was lauded for his exceptional compliance with safety standards, punctuality, integrity, and dedication to excellence. The award was presented by Bukola Olaiya, the Customer Operations Excellence Manager for West Africa.
