Job Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Professional certification such as ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) is an added advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC experience in accounting roles within FMCG, food, manufacturing, EPC, oil and gas, or energy sectors.
- Key Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of accounting software and financial management systems.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements such as VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, ITF, and NSITF.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Job Summary
The Accountant will play a pivotal role in the financial health of the company by overseeing all accounting operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Accounting Department Management:
- Oversee the company’s group accounting operations and ensure efficient workflow.
- Transaction Oversight:
- Process and post all financial transactions into accounting software.
- Issue invoices, vouchers, and receipts for business operations.
- Vendor and Customer Management:
- Monitor all vendor payables and customer receivables to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Tax and Compliance:
- Compute and manage monthly/yearly compliance requirements, including VAT, WHT, Pension, ITF, NSITF, and PAYE.
- Payroll Administration:
- Prepare and process company payroll while ensuring compliance with all tax, state, and local legislations.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to management.
- Books of Accounts Maintenance:
- Maintain proper records of assets, inventory, general ledgers, and working capital.
- Loan Book Monitoring:
- Track and manage the company’s loan obligations effectively.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
- Create and enforce Accounting Department SOPs, policies, and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Specialty Reports and Analysis:
- Track and analyze reports, providing actionable recommendations for business growth.
- Customs and Importation:
- Manage customs and importation processes with support from the Accounts Officer.
- Supply Chain and Procurement:
- Perform additional duties in supply chain and procurement as needed.
