Wizkid Faces Mixed Reactions Over Fashion Choices Amid N1.5bn McLaren Purchase

    Published on

Ayodeji Balogun, globally known as Wizkid, has once again become the center of online discussions, not for his music but for his fashion sense. The Nigerian superstar, currently enjoying his time in Lagos, made headlines after acquiring a McLaren 750s valued at over N1.5 billion. However, an X (formerly Twitter) influencer, Drpenking, diverted attention from the luxury car to critique Wizkid’s preference for white singlets.

Sharing a video of Wizkid stepping out casually in Lagos, the influencer wrote, One day somebody will be bold enough to tell Wizkid that the N2500 white singlet is not fashion. The post immediately sparked heated debates online, with fans and critics offering differing opinions on Wizkid’s minimalist style.

While some sided with the critique, others fiercely defended Wizkid, arguing that fashion is subjective and that simplicity often signifies confidence.

CyberHawk noted, It’s not 2500 sha, but that singlet is rubbish, especially because it’s white.

Kupa EmojiGuy clapped back at critics: If it’s high-fashion singlet, you won’t open your gutter stinky mouth to talk trash.

PriestlyEjiga added, Fashion is whatever we make of it. If he feels it’s fashionable, then it is.

XOXOLISO411 dismissed the fuss, saying, Na poor man dey think of clothes.

Others speculated on the singlet’s real cost, with some humorously suggesting it might be far more expensive than assumed.

Wizkid’s choice of attire juxtaposes his extravagant lifestyle, exemplified by his new McLaren 750s, which he’s been flaunting on Lagos roads. Fans have highlighted how the star’s casual dress sense contrasts sharply with his penchant for luxury cars and watches, emphasizing his unique ability to blend simplicity with opulence.

For many of Wizkid’s supporters, his preference for white singlets reflects confidence and a rejection of societal pressure to conform to flashy, over-the-top styles. When you’ve achieved his level of success, you wear what makes you comfortable, one fan remarked.

Amid the debates, Wizkid’s music continues to bridge divides. A recent video showed popular entertainer Chiefpriest dancing enthusiastically to Wizkid’s hit song Ojuelegba. Fans joked about the irony, given the perceived rivalry between Davido and Wizkid. Davido will block him, one netizen teased.

As the debates rage on, Wizkid appears unaffected, continuing to enjoy his vacation in Lagos. For him, it seems, style isn’t about the price tag but the confidence to wear what feels right.
