Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, unveiling a robust N545 billion budget aimed at tackling the state’s most pressing issues. Dubbed the “Rescue Budget 2.0,” this landmark budget is designed to address years of economic decline and infrastructure damage, while focusing on key sectors like security, education, health, and agriculture.
The signing ceremony, held on Thursday at the Council Chamber in Gusau, marked a crucial step in Governor Lawal’s commitment to revitalizing the state. During the event, the governor reflected on the challenges of the previous decade, citing poor governance, unpaid wages, crumbling infrastructure, and escalating insecurity. He stressed the importance of this budget in continuing the work that began with his administration’s swift intervention in the face of these issues.
The 2025 budget includes significant provisions for key areas: 28% of the budget will go towards recurrent expenditures, while 72% is earmarked for capital projects. Notably, the budget accounts for a landmark increase in the minimum wage for Zamfara civil servants, rising from N30,000 to N70,000, signaling a step towards improved welfare for the state’s workforce.
With a focus on completing ongoing legacy projects and revitalizing critical sectors, the “Rescue Budget 2.0” is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming Zamfara State and addressing the challenges of the past. Governor Lawal’s dedication to rebuilding the state’s infrastructure and enhancing public services offers hope for a brighter future, ensuring Zamfara’s resurgence as a model of development and governance.
