Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has officially signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, with a total value of N615.8 billion. The budget, which was passed by the State House of Assembly on December 24, 2024, saw a slight increase of N31 billion from the initial N584.76 billion estimate.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday at the Council Chamber of the Government House. Governor Zulum, in his address, emphasized the significance of the year 2025, stating his commitment to fulfilling all outstanding promises made during his 2023 election campaign.

This year is very important for me because I want to complete all my promises made during the 2023 electioneering campaigns, Zulum remarked. He urged all heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as members of the state executive council, to fully adhere to the provisions outlined in the appropriation bill.

Governor Zulum also praised the timely approval of the budget by the Borno State House of Assembly. He extended his appreciation to the leadership and members of the House, particularly the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, for their cooperation and support.

I commend the leadership of the House for their maturity, and the development strides we’ve achieved would not have been possible without their full support, Zulum stated.

In response, Speaker Abdulkarim Lawan commended the governor for his strong leadership and the successful implementation of projects across Borno in the past six years. He also noted that the budget’s upward revision aimed to include critical people-centered projects that will benefit the state’s residents.

The signing of the budget marks a pivotal moment for Borno, with an emphasis on completing vital infrastructure and social projects, ensuring continued development across the state.
