Zaccheus Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has dismissed rumors about running for Oyo State governor in 2027. He declared his commitment to his current role and urged the public to end the speculations.
Speaking at a New Year service in his hometown, Iwo Ate, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State, Adedeji said, I, Zacch Adedeji, will not contest for the governorship election in 2027.Adedeji emphasized his dedication to his FIRS responsibilities. I need your prayers for strength to end well with what I’m doing now. I do not want to be distracted, he stated.
Adedeji acknowledged his past role as Commissioner for Finance under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, where he said he fulfilled his duties to the best of his abilities.
The tax chief admitted his decision might disappoint supporters but explained his focus is on completing his current assignment. God has given us a platform to serve before. Now, we must excel where we are, he added.Adedeji has been linked to rumors of succeeding Governor Oluseyi Makinde, fueled by political speculations in Oyo State. However, he insists his sole focus is on his work at FIRS.
