Former Rivers Southeast Senator Magnus Abe has accused politicians backing Governor Sim Fubara of using him to undermine the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Abe said these politicians are driven by selfish ambitions, not loyalty to Fubara or Rivers State.
Speaking at a New Year stakeholders’ program hosted by Wike on Friday, Abe alleged that the governor’s supporters see him as a tool for their political agenda.
Nobody is with Governor Fubara because they love Rivers State or Governor Fubara, Abe stated. They are with him because they see him as a means to achieve their political goal to bring down the FCT Minister.
The rivalry between Wike and Fubara has intensified since the governor assumed office in 2023. Their ongoing feud centers on control of Rivers State’s political structure, with both leaders vying for dominance.
The accusations by Abe highlight the deepening divisions within the state’s political landscape. Observers believe the escalating tensions could shape Rivers politics ahead of the next electoral cycle.
