Kanu’s Brother Accuses Tinubu of Breaking Promise

Emmanuel Kanu, brother of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has accused President Bola Tinubu of breaking a promise to release his brother. Emmanuel said he met with Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, before the election. Seyi assured him that Tinubu would release Nnamdi Kanu if elected.

Emmanuel said the meeting was witnessed by another person for verification. He was told the agreement was binding. In return, IPOB agreed not to disrupt the election process. Emmanuel said the group held up its end by not calling for a boycott.

Despite Tinubu’s public pledge during the campaign, Nnamdi Kanu remains in detention nearly two years after Tinubu became president. Emmanuel pointed out that there are no charges against Kanu. He added that the Appeal Court had already discharged him, but the previous government ignored the ruling.

Emmanuel argued that Kanu’s detention lacks legal basis.
