President Bola Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, today to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama, scheduled for tomorrow. The trip follows an invitation extended by Mahama, who visited President Tinubu earlier in December.
A statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted the longstanding personal relationship between the two leaders, as well as the enduring bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana. As the current Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the inauguration ceremony.
The delegation accompanying President Tinubu will include Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, along with other senior government officials.
John Dramani Mahama, who served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will succeed outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo, who has served from 2017 to 2025.
