Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has raised alarm over threats made against him by the national spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka.
Obi reacted to Morka’s comments on January 5, where Morka said, “Mr. Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and he has what’s coming to him, and whatever he gets, he should manage it.” The former Anambra governor claimed these remarks have led to threats against him, his family, and his associates.
In a post on X, Obi responded, questioning if he had truly crossed the line as Morka suggested. He invited anyone to point out his wrongdoings. Obi emphasized that he will not be silenced and remains committed to speaking truthfully, especially as the country appears to be heading toward undemocratic practices.
He said, “I will not be silenced in my resolve to speak truthfully, as our nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices.”
Obi also warned about Nigeria’s growing authoritarianism, stating, “We are increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed.” He called for a better and freer society for the future.
