Aishatu Ahmed Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 governorship candidate in Adamawa, has dismissed rumours that she had defected from the party. Speaking at an event in Yola, Binani reaffirmed her unwavering loyalty to the APC, stating that she and her supporters remain committed to the party.
Binani, who represents Adamawa Central Zone in the Senate, made the clarification through her representative, Mijinyawa Kugama, during the inauguration of the Gladiators for Binani Only support group. She expressed gratitude to her supporters for their dedication during the 2023 elections, where she narrowly lost to incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
In his remarks, Umar Mustapha, a prominent politician and Binani’s associate, emphasized the role of the Gladiators group in uniting the diverse ethnic communities of Adamawa. The group, he noted, will be instrumental in the 2027 general elections as it aims to wrestle Adamawa from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The event also saw the inauguration of key executives of the Gladiators for Binani Only group, with Maryam Waziri appointed as Secretary and Rhoda Nuhu as Women Leader, among others. The group’s founder and state coordinator, Himaga Yayirus, reiterated their commitment to APC’s success in 2027, focusing on poverty alleviation and empowering the less privileged.
