The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has pledged that the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, will soon be captured. Speaking during Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review programme on Tuesday, Musa revealed that security forces have made significant progress in dismantling Turji’s network.
According to the CDS, Turji has been operating in hiding, but the military has intensified efforts to close in on him. What we have been doing recently is picking up everyone close to him all those giving him support. We have also killed his commanders. It’s just a matter of time, Musa said.
The military’s ongoing operations have already led to the elimination of some of Turji’s top commanders and the arrest of several of his associates. These efforts are part of a broader campaign to end the activities of bandits and insurgents in the region.
Musa also disclosed that over 120,000 terrorists have surrendered in the North-East, many of whom were coerced into joining insurgent groups. The Defence Chief expressed confidence that the military’s sustained operations will continue to yield results and restore peace to troubled regions.
With intensified security measures and strategic operations, the capture of Turji is now a critical objective for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
