The Labour Party has called on Nigerians to embrace love, compassion, and forgiveness this Christmas. Julius Abure, the party’s National Chairman, expressed concern about the economic struggles many families face, leaving them unable to celebrate the season.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, Abure urged Nigerians to support their neighbors and show kindness. He reminded everyone of the true meaning of Christmas, centered on helping the less privileged and uplifting those in need.
“Jesus Christ, born in a humble manger, dedicated His life to bringing hope to the poor, the oppressed, and the sick. Today, many families cannot celebrate due to financial challenges. I urge society to show love and care to those in lack,” he said.
Abure also thanked Nigeria’s military personnel for their sacrifices. He praised the men and women in uniform who are working tirelessly to protect the country, even during the festive season. He acknowledged their absence from their families as they keep the nation safe.
“Our gallant soldiers are in trenches across the country, ensuring terrorists and criminals are kept at bay. Let us keep them in our prayers and recognize their dedication,” he added.
The Labour Party chairman also emphasized the power of forgiveness during Christmas. He encouraged Nigerians to let go of bitterness and embrace peace, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Christ.
“There is no greater joy than forgiving those who have wronged us,” Abure stated. “Christmas is a reminder of God’s love and sacrifice. Let this season inspire us to forgive and strengthen our bonds with one another.”
He urged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of Christ’s birth and allow its meaning to influence their actions. Abure called on everyone to show love, help those in need, and build a society rooted in compassion and unity.
As Nigerians celebrate, the Labour Party’s message is a reminder to make Christmas meaningful by extending kindness and support to others. It is a call to action for a more caring and connected nation.
