The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) aims to hit a N10 billion monthly revenue target, according to Chairman Oladele Bankole-Balogun. This ambitious plan comes as Bankole-Balogun seeks to modernize the state’s revenue collection processes.
Bankole-Balogun revealed that the previous administration generated an average of N6.4 billion monthly, with a peak of N7.8 billion in January 2024. However, he believes new reforms will significantly boost these numbers.
“We’re committed to cleaning up the system, blocking loopholes, and moving away from manual revenue collection,” Bankole-Balogun said. He emphasized that outdated practices like using tax officers with canes to chase payments will be abolished.
With the support of Governor Monday Okpebholo, Bankole-Balogun plans to implement advanced technologies to enhance efficiency and maximize revenue generation.
“Our immediate goal is to generate N10 billion monthly, and we believe N12 billion is achievable in the long term,” he added. Governor Okpebholo’s bold vision for the state is focused on improving resource allocation for Edo State’s growth.
