In a heartwarming gesture to usher in the New Year, the Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, celebrated the arrival of the first babies of the year with generous gifts and financial support.
Mrs. Otti visited the Aba South Primary Health Care Center on Wednesday, where she met Master Chiudo Favour, the first baby born in 2025, and three other newborns. She presented N500,000 to Master Favour and N300,000 each to the other babies. Additionally, the families received bags of rice and other essential items.
While addressing the families, Mrs. Otti congratulated them and reaffirmed the Abia State government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery across the state. She emphasized the significance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby’s life, encouraging mothers to adopt the practice for healthier children.
Mrs. Otti also took time to appreciate the healthcare workers at the center for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their life-saving efforts.
The mother of the first baby of the year, Mrs. Comfort Favour, expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Otti, thanking her for the financial and material support. She prayed for blessings upon the Governor’s wife and the state government.
The First Lady’s outreach extended to the Federal Medical Center in Umuahia, where she distributed additional gifts to mothers and newborns.
Every child born in Abia State is a blessing, and it is our duty to support families during these precious moments, Mrs. Otti stated, highlighting her administration’s dedication to family welfare and community development.
The initiative reflects the Abia State government’s focus on promoting maternal and child health, ensuring that families feel supported during such significant milestones.
