The Orient Community Foundation has appealed to stakeholders, including government agencies, community leaders, and private sector organisations, to strengthen their support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) to ensure its sustained success and long-term benefits for the Niger Delta region.
In a statement on Monday, the Chairman/CEO of the foundation, Ebizimor Raphael, praised the achievements of PAP under the leadership of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, who was appointed Administrator in March 2024. Raphael highlighted milestones such as the reintegration of ex-agitators, vocational training programs, and the creation of opportunities for economic empowerment.
“We urge all stakeholders to rally behind Dr. Otuaro and the PAP. By working together, we can ensure the programme continues to positively impact lives and drive sustainable development in the Niger Delta,” Raphael said.
He emphasized the program’s successes, noting how many ex-agitators have transformed into entrepreneurs and employers, contributing to regional growth. Strong partnerships with state governments, communities, and private sector organisations have further bolstered these efforts.
Despite these achievements, the foundation stressed the need for increased funding. Referencing Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri’s call for adequate financial support, Raphael reiterated the importance of sustained investment to meet PAP’s objectives.
“We commend Dr. Otuaro for his tireless efforts and leadership. We are confident that under his guidance, the PAP will continue to make a lasting difference in the Niger Delta,” Raphael concluded.
