Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has said the NNPP-led government will not be bullied by the APC’s plans for 2027. Speaking at the Government House, Yusuf dismissed the APC’s claims of reclaiming Kano as empty talk.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate, recently vowed to cut the APC’s votes in Kano during the next elections. The APC quickly fired back. Its Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, said the NNPP was no threat.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also criticized Kwankwaso. At a recent APC event, Ganduje claimed Kwankwaso’s past wins were due to APC’s internal issues. He said the Kwankwasiyya movement was finished and had lost public support in Kano.
Governor Yusuf responded with a warning. “Whoever threatens the good people of Kano will face the consequences,” he said. He vowed to act decisively against any threats to the state’s peace.
Yusuf reminded his opponents that power comes from God. “No conspiracy can succeed if God wills otherwise. We will not be intimidated or threatened,” he said.
He emphasized that his focus is on serving Kano. “Our priority is to deliver on our promises and serve our people. 2027 is not our concern now,” Yusuf stated. He prayed for strength to fulfill his mandate and see the next election in good health.
The political rivalry between the NNPP and APC is heating up as Kano prepares for the 2027 polls. Both parties are vying for dominance in the state.
