Lagos State lawmakers have unequivocally pledged their loyalty and support to President Bola Tinubu, commending his leadership and the significant strides made under the Renewed Hope Agenda. This unanimous endorsement came at a plenary session of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where lawmakers took turns outlining the President’s successful economic policies and transformative governance. These policies have, according to the legislators, had a positive impact on Nigeria’s economy, with notable improvements including the reduction in the cost of living and a strengthened naira. The assembly members credited these gains to the bold and necessary decisions made by the President to stabilize the nation’s finances and restore growth. The motion was moved by Abiodun Tobun, the representative for Epe Constituency I, who, while acknowledging that more work remains, emphasized the commendable achievements made by the President. Tobun highlighted the economic upliftment Nigerians are already experiencing, citing the fall in the cost of living and the appreciation of the naira against the dollar as clear indications of the effectiveness of the administration’s policies. Supporting Tobun’s remarks, Gbolahan Yishawu, the representative for Eti Osa Constituency II, also praised Tinubu’s economic policies, calling them both effective and timely. Yishawu went on to commend the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her support of her husband’s leadership and her initiatives aimed at promoting homegrown farming, which is seen as a critical step toward achieving food security for the country. The Majority Leader of the House, Temitope Adewale, underscored the deep allegiance that the lawmakers felt toward the President, noting that it was under his mentorship that many of them, including himself, had entered the political arena. Adewale highlighted a number of Tinubu’s reforms, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, the introduction of student loans, the implementation of a new national minimum wage, and the reduction of the debt-to-income ratio, all of which were aimed at reviving the economy and improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
In her closing remarks, Speaker Mojisola Meranda also expressed admiration for the President and First Lady, commending their exemplary leadership. Meranda announced that the House would officially convey its loyalty and gratitude to President Tinubu for his visionary leadership. The members agreed that a formal letter of commendation would be sent to the President, reinforcing their commitment to supporting his government and his initiatives.
