Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has issued a fresh warning to Nigerians regarding the increasing risk of fire outbreaks in the country. The cleric made the call during the church’s February thanksgiving service at the Throne of Grace Parish in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, urging citizens to remain vigilant and prayerful in the face of potential disasters.
In his sermon, Pastor Adeboye stressed the urgency of the situation, citing the rise in fire incidents both globally and locally, and calling for proactive steps to prevent such tragedies. “I must share something very urgent,” the pastor began, emphasizing that one of the prophecies for the year was to pray against fire outbreaks, storms, and floods.
Adeboye’s warning comes on the heels of a troubling increase in fire incidents worldwide, with Nigeria not being exempt from this global crisis. The RCCG leader highlighted that, although the year had only just begun, the frequency of fire outbreaks had already raised concerns. “We’ve only spent one month, and we’ve already seen the rate of fire incidents across the world. Nigeria is part of the world, and we must be prayerful,” he said.
In particular, Pastor Adeboye urged farmers across the country to exercise caution when preparing their lands for cultivation. He specifically cautioned against the practice of bush burning, which is common in some farming communities. “Don’t joke with any form of naked fire around you,” he warned, emphasizing the dangers of bush fires, which can quickly escalate and cause widespread destruction.
To the farming community, Adeboye pleaded, “Farmers, please don’t burn bushes while preparing your farms. Don’t say I didn’t tell you.” He concluded his message by praying for divine intervention, asking that God would answer their prayers and grant them protection against potential disasters.
The warning from Pastor Adeboye serves as a timely reminder for Nigerians to be vigilant and prayerful, as the nation continues to grapple with various natural disasters and environmental hazards.
