Katsina State Police Command has stopped a kidnapping attempt and rescued 10 victims in a bold operation. The incident happened on December 24, 2024, along the Katsina–Magama Jibia road in Jibia Local Government Area.
Armed bandits ambushed a commercial vehicle at Kwanar Makera around 8:30 p.m. They fired sporadically, aiming to abduct all passengers. Acting quickly, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia led a team to the scene.
The police engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, forcing them to retreat. All 10 victims were rescued unharmed from the attempted abduction.
Unfortunately, four victims sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. They were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, two of the injured victims died while receiving care.
Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing bandits. Investigations are also underway to uncover details about the attackers.
Commending the officers, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised their bravery and swift action. He urged them to remain vigilant and maintain their dedication to duty. He also called on residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
