Former Commissioner for Works in Rivers State, Chief David Briggs, has condemned the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his recent remarks about former Governor Peter Odili. Briggs, who served under Odili, claimed that Wike thrives in crisis and is contributing to the political tension in the state.
Briggs described Wike’s comments about “reviving” Odili politically as an insult, accusing the minister of undermining Odili’s contributions to Rivers State. He pointed out that Wike’s feud with Odili began following a political fallout involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has Odili’s support.
Briggs also criticized Wike for rewriting history and undermining Odili’s legacy. Wike cannot survive in a peaceful environment, he said, accusing him of exacerbating conflict to maintain political relevance. He urged Wike to apologize to the people of Rivers State and warned of revealing more details about Wike’s actions.
Briggs also expressed concern over President Bola Tinubu’s silence on the matter, implying that the president’s inaction might endorse political opportunism in the state.
