Some PDP Governors Set to Join APC, Says Jimoh Ibrahim

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, has revealed that several governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties are planning to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the near future. Ibrahim made the claims during an interview on Channels Television, where he responded to questions regarding the ongoing political developments in the country.

The senator, who is known for his strong political influence, explained that while many individuals have already defected to the APC, more defections are expected in the coming weeks. “Many people have decamped to the party with some also expected in the coming weeks,” he said. Ibrahim’s remarks come at a time when political realignments are taking place, with some prominent political figures switching allegiances.

When asked about the implications of internal criticism within the APC, particularly concerning the policies of the current government under President Bola Tinubu, Ibrahim dismissed the notion that such criticisms were one-sided. He pointed out that the focus should not only be on criticisms but also on the growing number of defectors joining the APC. “What about those from PDP that are joining us? You’re not looking at that. You abandoned it completely,” he stated.

The lawmaker further highlighted the example of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who, despite being a member of the PDP, now serves in the APC government. Ibrahim also teased that more governors are planning to make the political switch in the near future. “How many of them are planning to come? Some governors are planning to join APC of course, I don’t want to mention them so that I don’t embarrass people,” he said.

Ibrahim’s comments have sparked curiosity and speculation about the political future of some key PDP governors. While he declined to name any specific governors, he assured that he would reveal more details in future appearances. “When I come back, next time you’ll see governor crossed to APC,” he added.

As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to shift, the defection of high-profile political figures from the opposition parties to the APC is expected to have significant implications for the country’s governance and political stability. These developments are likely to shape the trajectory of the nation’s politics in the coming months.
