Umahi Urges Muslims to Pray for Tinubu and Nwifuru’s Reelection as Ramadan Observance Continues

As the holy month of Ramadan deepens, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has called on the Muslim community across Nigeria to intensify prayers for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. Speaking at his Abakaliki residence during an iftar gathering with the Muslim faithful in Ebonyi State, Umahi emphasized that Nigeria is experiencing a significant turnaround under Tinubu’s leadership, urging believers to pray for the President’s success and continued governance.

The minister expressed confidence that the worst economic and political challenges facing Nigeria were over, attributing the nation’s progress to divine intervention. According to him, President Tinubu came into office with God’s favor, and the evidence of that divine backing is becoming more apparent. He urged the Muslim community to remain steadfast in their supplications, believing that the President’s leadership would usher in greater transformation.

“In your prayers, please pray for the President, for his success, and for all the great work he is doing because he came in the name of God, and God has shown himself so mighty strong for our President,” Umahi said. “We pray that God will guide him in good health, and everything good he thinks for this nation will come to pass. He will achieve it. Of course, as we prepare to complete our first tenure, he will also be reelected for a second tenure so that he will complete the good job that he has started.”

Umahi’s remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to navigate complex economic and security challenges. While the administration has made strategic policy changes aimed at stabilizing the economy and strengthening governance, public opinion remains divided on the effectiveness of these measures. However, Umahi maintains that significant progress has been made and that the country is on the path to prosperity.

Beyond his call for prayers for Tinubu, the minister also urged the Muslim faithful to pray for the continued success of Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State. He praised the governor for fostering peace and unity in the state, stating that his leadership has been instrumental in consolidating political harmony. According to Umahi, Ebonyi has witnessed an all-inclusive administration under Nwifuru, making opposition politics almost nonexistent in the state.

“The Governor of Ebonyi State has brought peace, and there is no more opposition in Ebonyi State. Only APC is in Ebonyi State, and he has brought everybody on board,” Umahi stated. “The Governor is doing all his best to develop the state. You will pray for him, for God will guide him and that he will complete his four-year tenure and give him victory for the second tenure. And that God will lift Ebonyi State and make us number one in the whole country, for peace, for prosperity, for wealth, for good governance, that God will make us number one.”

His remarks highlight the growing political alliances shaping the state’s leadership, as well as the broader national push by the ruling party to consolidate its influence ahead of the next general election. While opposition voices continue to critique aspects of Tinubu’s policies, Umahi’s statements suggest that the administration remains optimistic about retaining power beyond 2027.

As Ramadan remains a period of deep spiritual reflection, Umahi’s appeal to the Muslim community underscores the government’s recognition of faith as a central pillar in shaping national unity and governance. With the country facing significant hurdles, the emphasis on divine intervention reflects a strategy often used by politicians to align governance with religious sentiments.

The coming years will be crucial in determining whether the promises of transformation materialize into tangible improvements for Nigerians. As the administration moves forward, the prayers and support of the people may play a key role in shaping the political landscape leading up to the next election cycle.
