Governor Hope Uzodinma has signed the Imo State 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, following its passage by the State House of Assembly. Initially proposed at N756 billion, the budget was increased to N807 billion by the lawmakers, reflecting a strong collaboration between the executive and legislative branches.
The signing ceremony took place at the New Exco Chambers in Government House Owerri, where Governor Uzodinma expressed satisfaction with the swift passage of the bill and the adjustment of the original figures. He commended the lawmakers for their oversight and commitment to providing essential services to the people of Imo State.
The newly signed budget allocates N694.8 billion, or 86.09 percent, to capital expenditure, while N112.3 billion, or 13.91 percent, is dedicated to recurrent expenditure. Governor Uzodinma emphasized that the budget, titled the Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities, is designed to transform the state’s economy through enhanced infrastructure and industrialization. He highlighted the state’s goal of becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the region and a prime destination for genuine investors.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chike Olemgbe, also praised the well-crafted appropriation bill, which he said made the assembly’s task seamless. With the budget now law, Imo State is poised for significant economic growth and development in 2025.
