Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has openly criticized Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, in the ongoing party crisis. During a media chat in Abuja, Wike accused Wabara of being a key figure in fueling the internal conflicts within the PDP.
Wike’s remarks were particularly sharp as he stated that if Wabara were his father, he would have disowned him. He pointed to Wabara’s involvement in efforts to remove the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, despite existing court rulings. Wike condemned the actions and statements of certain PDP leaders, attributing the party’s struggles to their behavior.
“It doesn’t bother me at all,” Wike said, emphasizing that the matter is now in the hands of the courts, with the PDP constitution clear on the process of leadership succession. He warned against attempts to bypass this process and manipulated the situation, reiterating his commitment to the rule of law.
Wike stressed the importance of focusing on resolving party issues, particularly with the upcoming convention, and called for a smooth transition to a new executive rather than stoking further crises.
