The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations that it sponsored thugs to attack members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The ruling party in the state has challenged the APC to present concrete evidence to back its claims, urging the opposition to convince the people of Zamfara with verifiable proof.
Haliru Andi, the PDP Publicity Secretary, addressed the accusations via a WhatsApp message, stating that the APC must provide the names of PDP members allegedly involved in the attack and prove that the perpetrators were indeed linked to the ruling party. He advised the public to disregard any unsubstantiated allegations from the APC unless they are proven in a competent court of law.
The PDP further urged the APC to caution its members, particularly Abdulmalik Zubairu, a member of the House of Representatives, who it accused of organizing an illegal gathering in Bungudu town. The PDP emphasized that political activities must adhere to legal frameworks and warned against actions that could disrupt the peace of Zamfara State.
Additionally, the PDP assured law-abiding citizens that it would collaborate with security agencies to hold Zubairu accountable for any breach of peace resulting from what it described as an unlawful assembly.
The ruling party reminded the APC that the official campaign period for the 2027 elections has not yet commenced and urged the opposition to allow residents of Zamfara to live peacefully without unnecessary political tensions.
